Actually there’s a twist ending to batman #50. In the last page they reveal selina was manipulated by bane and holly into leaving bruce bc bane wanted to break emotionally bruce. They show bane with all the other villains-who look super happy lol-and it’s revealed flashpoint thomas wayne and gotham girl are on bane’s side too. Idk what this means for the future but it’s not encouraging tbh

I’ve seen that last page on a quest to find out if Joker survived #49 and yeeeeeeeeeeah it looks… weird. And kind of convoluted. I’m not liking the implication that it wasn’t Selina’s own decision, which it should be (and I do think it’s the right one, and that she should have come to it much sooner than after 40+ issues but okay)

I guess we’ll see after #50 actually drops. Selina’s own new solo has her leaving Gotham, so maybe they’ll cool it a bit before attempting to matchmake Batman again. Fingers crossed.

Today is a happy day for us BatJokes shippers. Joker has saved us all!

Yeah I don’t imagine many people do? At least not if you’re relatively new to the fandom, this happened in the good old nu52 days

but I haven’t forgotten, and I haven’t forgiven, and I kept wondering if they’ll stick to their guns regarding this whole “heroes can’t be happy” defense they rolled out back then

whatever you think about this latest wedding debacle, at least DC stayed consistent on that front for now

Ever thought of writing an AU where Batman was happiest and playful?

Well there’s a bit that includes that sort of thing in my latest fic? In the last chapter there’s a scene where Bruce walks around “mirrors” that show him different versions of himself and Joker, and Batman ‘66 is among them

I do fantasize a lot about what I call fluffverse, which is basically a variant on “Bruce and Joker get together fairly early on before the worst angst kicks in” – that one is pretty much all domestic fluff and happy-space lego-style shenanigans

my old-as-balls drabble collection has some of that and I might be adding more to it from time to time

LOL. Don’t scream victory yet. With the flames being burnt on Tom King’s twitter DC may actually reconsider and make the marriage canon in the future

I mean yeah sure it might still happen at some point in the future and King may even attempt to do it again after this in his own run

but if they do that is a problem for Future Me and after a year of near-constant anxiety and resentment and rage over this entire plotline let me enjoy one night of “oh thank GOD” that’s all I ask

As long as we’re celebrating Selina and J making fun of Eddie’s…”look” was good and IC. Also I kinda want to imagine them being drinking buddies after this since J would be just as relieved as us that she didn’t marry Gotham’s other furry

I think he’d be much more than JUST relieved
